What are the potential effects of global warming in terms of climate change and how they can be arrested?
Global warming has always been an earth-shattering issue as it is being concerned by all nations throughout the world. Generally, global warming refers to the gradual increase in global average temperature with respect to the increase in concentration of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere. By the end of the 21st century, global warming is likely to cause a rise in Earth's temperature of around 2-5 degrees centigrade. (Chris Woodford 2006) This worries scientists as it may invite higher degree of climate change to the earth and therefore, it may correspond to enormous consequences on our beloved environment. Thus, the potential impacts of global warming in terms of climate change should be taken fully into attention and responsible measurements need to be implemented to arrest this problem.
One of the significant effects of global warming is the tremendous rise in temperature at North and South poles. (Chris Woodford 2006) As a result, ocean is warmed up by the increasing global temperature. According to Holli Riebeek 2007, the world's glaciers have steadily receded, and Arctic sea ice extent has steadily shrunk by 2.7 percent per decade since 1978. The melting of ice caps and glaciers has brought to higher sea level. Currently, the world's sea level is rising at 3 centimeters per decade. (Chris Woodford 2006) Rising sea level will enhance coastal erosion and cause more frequent coastal floodings. This problem is serious because as much as 10 percent of the world population lives in coastal areas less than 10 meters above sea level. (Holli Riebeek 2007)
On the other hand, global warming is likely to cause more erratic weather patterns on the Earth. (Chris Woodford 2006) Warmer temperature will alter weather patterns, making it likely that there will be more intense droughts and rain events. It will also lead to frequent heat waves and natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, typhoons and storms. Residents of poorer countries who do not have sufficient resources to fend off changes in climate will be affected the most in terms of widespread infectious diseases such as malaria. (Holli Riebeek 2007) Besides, frequent cases of fires are likely to take place, which may lead to deaths and air pollution.
In addition, global warming is putting pressure on ecosystem. Warmer temperature shifted the growing seasons in many parts of the globe. (Holli Riebeek 2007) Nature’s plan is disturbed by global warming and millions of ecological creatures are going to be affected. Species that failed to adapt themselves under a hotter environment may end up facing the crisis of extinction. Also, shorter and milder winters will fail to kill some insects, thus increase the risk of damage to ecosystem by infestation.
To tackle this global crisis as to reduce the impacts of climate change, prompt actions should be taken to cut down the emission of greenhouse gases. People are encouraged to use efficient electricity appliances and end-use efficiency. At the same time, people are urged to practice passenger vehicle efficiency such as hybrid cars. Al Gore in his talk suggested the use of renewable technologies and carbon-capture-and-storage technologies to further address the problem. All nations should cooperate and work together as a powerful body to deal with this global crisis by forwarding the message of awareness to the whole world.
As a conclusion, global warming nowadays harms the Earth in terms of increase in temperature continuously, erratic weather patterns and pressure on ecosystem. With global energy and fossil-fuel use still increasing, major climate change seems almost unavoidable. However, according to An Inconvenient Truth A Global Warming, the 2007 film directed by Davis Guggenheim, records indicated that human do have the capacity to rise above themselves and above history with determination. Thus, everyone should have the strength to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases as much as possible and make this world a better place!

Free time
I have just finish acting. Well, it is needed for my Moral Studies project. We have to do a video about moral issue. Within a group a 5 people, finally we have decided to do a topic on BAD USAGE OF WORDS.
Michelle is the one who think of the topic. She create the story line, and we are just following. Thanks so much to Michelle upon her effort.
After lunch, we start to prepare. Everybody change their clothes as to fit the character well. There are two scenes in total where we take it in Aristotle Block. I was not include in scene 1 but the second one. I was asked to wear mini skirt or anything else that will make me look like really dress up so nicely. Well, I am going to be teased by others in the video because of my dressing.
Yin Sin took a picture of me^^
Why I look so happy a??? haha....
Anyhow, we managed to finish all the video clips we suppose to take it today. Such a good job. And currently, we are having some difficulties figuring out how to insert the subtitle into the video clips. Yin Sin said that she will try it out first, but it is time-consuming to insert the subtitle, and it is not easy to do it as the timing is difficult to control. Hope that we can really make it....add oil^^
I still have a Mathematics directed investtigation to go. It is progressing quite slow. Maybe we should make it faster (in group).....hopefully we can finish it before term break...hopefully....
What am I suppose to do now? Oh ya...Specialist Mathematics!!! Next week I will have a quiz on Chapter 6. So, I should make some revision now...bye~~~~
Good Morning^.^
There have been a long time I do not update my blog. I am lazy to write out something, but I will still try to post some words as much as i can.
This is a really good morning as I get enough sleep today. I have just wake up from my dreamland actually, and straightaway on my laptop after brushing my teeth.haha...
Wanna say....
Ohaiyo!!!
Is it means Good Morning in Japanese? I guess so...haha...=)
This weekend I am not going back to home. It is like long time already for me to not stay back at INTI hostel at weekend. I have works to complete this weekend and also next week (quiz and test). Today, it should be an enjoyful and funny day. Will it turn like the way i wish? I dont know. Perhaps...but me alone is too unpowerful to decide things that is going to happen next. We cannot predict things....
Happiness and to be rich in life is my goal. Last time Mr. Yee asked us about our goal in life, I was just wondering at that moment. A person's goal changes with time, and every single incident can change it. I am too weak, in other words, undetermined to continue moving towards my goal. I will try my best to make myself successful in life in term of reaching happiness in life and to be a rich lady. To be a rich lady does not mean to have lots of money, but to rich in the things in life that I want to achieve such as friendship, family, integrity and work.
It is still a long way to go. Gambateh^^ For me and everyone of you.
I am watching *A litre of Tears* recently, and it is still a very touching stories. Aya's determination and the way she treat her life is impressive. She is such a strong girl to be able to stand up in front of everyone, to be able to smile upon the unusual sights and words. It can be very irritating, but she never give up. She continue optimistically in her life as she believe herself that she can change her life if she strike hard for it, or at least she don't want to waste her life just like that, she want to do as much as she can whe she is still able to walk, speak and coordinate her body. She is great. We should look on her, and treat her as an example in life. Rememeber not to give up so easily. Life is given once, so let us appreciate it!
It is the time I have to say good bye. Bye bye for now, and think about my words. Wish you all a happy weekend^^
